FAQs

Here are some answers to a number of questions we often get asked about our workshops. We strongly recommend that you read our Terms and Conditions in detail before booking your place.

JOINING THE SCHEME

  • How long is the Workshop and what does it cover?
  • The Workshop takes around 2½ hours to complete. You will be required to take an active part in both individual activities and an inter-active group discussion relating to your driving offence. You will not be required to drive during the Workshop.
  • I have special needs, can these be accommodated?
  • Yes, please contact our Police Customer Care Team on 0845 345 9623 to discuss your needs on an individual basis.
  • Can I attend a Workshop voluntarily, even if I have not been offered the chance to attend by the Police?
  • No. The Workshops are only available to those drivers referred to us by the Police. However, DriveTech (UK) Limited does offer a wide variety of driver training services, please go to www.drivetech.co.uk for details.

MAKING A BOOKING

  • How do I book a Workshop?
  • The easiest way to book is online via www.drivetechsas.com or if you prefer, you can call our Police Customer Care Team on 0845 345 9623. By booking online, you will be able to choose any available date, time or venue whereas by booking by phone, you will only be offered a limited number of options. You cannot pay on the day.
  • Once booked, can I change the date of my Workshop?
  • Yes, but you may incur rescheduling fees – see the clause on ‘Rescheduling’ in our Terms and Conditions.

ATTENDING A WORKSHOP

  • What do I need to take with me on the day?
  • We recommend you take your full joining instructions as well as photographic identification, such as a full driving licence or passport or a suitable alternative – see clause on ‘Personal Identification’ in our Terms and Conditions. Training materials and refreshments will be provided. You cannot pay on the day.
  • Where can I find travel directions to the training venue?
  • Directions to the venue are included in your joining instructions which will be sent to you after you have booked and paid for your Workshop. You can also download directions via our website at www.drivetechsas.com.
  • How do I register on the day?
  • We recommend that you arrive around 15 mins before the start of Workshop so that you can register and show proof of identity, ideally photographic ID. If you do not have any photo ID, please bring two other forms of identification such as an original utilities bill, bank or credit card statement – see the clause on ‘Personal identification’ in our Terms and Conditions.
  • Can I park at the training venue?
  • There are no private parking spaces available at any of the London training venues so please use local public car parking or public transport.
  • Other commitments have arisen on the day of my Workshop, what should I do?
  • If you have booked a place and you do not attend for any reason (except ‘exceptional circumstances’), we recommend that you book another Workshop immediately, subject to availability and payment of the full Workshop fee again. If you don’t rebook, your file will be returned to the Police and the offer of the Scheme withdrawn. See our clause on ‘Nonattendance’ in our Terms and Conditions.
  • What should I do if either myself, or a dependant, is unwell on the day of the Workshop?
  • We understand that illness, some medical conditions or bereavement are unavoidable. That’s why we acknowledge these are examples of ‘exceptional circumstances’. You can rebook but you must provide appropriate documentary evidence and pay any rescheduling fees. See our clause on ‘Nonattendance’ in our Terms and Conditions.
  • What happens if I arrive late?
  • You must arrive in good time or you may be refused entry in which case you must rebook immediately, subject to availability and rescheduling fees. See our clause on ‘Non-completion’ in our Terms and Conditions.

AFTER A WORKSHOP

  • Do I need to inform the Police that I have completed the Workshop?
  • No, DriveTech (UK) Limited will advise the Police directly that you have successfully completed a Workshop.
  • If I offend again, can I attend a Workshop again?
  • You cannot attend a Workshop again within 3 years of the date of your original offence.
